Service Assurance Key to GTA TeleGuam's Continuing Success with Digital TV
Rapid adoption of Island's advanced digital TV services underpinned by xVu , Mariner's proactive service quality assurance solution
ST. LOUIS, MO, April 16, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- GTA TeleGuam, Guam's innovative, full service communications company, announced today continuing success in the roll-out of Guam Digital TV (GUdTV), the 100 percent digital TV service launched in October 2008. Mariner's xVu proactively identifies, diagnoses, and corrects network and service issues for GUdTV, playing an important role in meeting customer expectations, maximizing customer satisfaction and minimizing churn.
GTA TeleGuam has invested nearly $75 million over the last five years in its network, and plans to invest a further $10 million in 2010 expanding the reach of GUdTV and its 3G wireless network. In one of the most competitive telecom markets in the world, maintaining the highest Quality of Experience (QoE) possible and creating experience-led market differentiation are key.
Described by GTA TeleGuam as the "most advanced TV on Guam," GUdTV is the only true 100 percent digital TV service on Guam, with over 200 digital channels, including the highest number of HD channels, digital music and popular premium channels, and DVR capabilities.
"GTA TeleGuam is committed to delivering world class telecommunications and entertainment services and our Digital TV offering is the most recent example," said Dan Moffat, president and CEO of GTA TeleGuam. "We are extremely pleased with the rapid adoption of GUdTV. Mariner's service assurance tool, xVu , has given our customer support team an added sense of confidence in isolating and rapidly dealing with performance issues as they arise."
"The ability to measure video Quality of Experience down to the set-top box level has allowed GTA TeleGuam to proactively identify issues and fix them, often before the customer is even aware of the problem - let alone called in a Trouble Ticket. This in turn improves quality of service, lowers churn and builds customer loyalty," Moffat added.
Key Facts
• GTA TeleGuam required a complete, integrated service assurance solution that would boost profitability for its GUdTV offering. The combined Cisco/Mariner solution provides GTA TeleGuam network operations, field technicians and senior management with end-to-end insight into their digital TV service.
• This launch represents the first deployment of the xVu suite of network monitoring solutions in the Pacific Region. Mariner is well-established in North America with several current installations in Canada, the continental U.S. and the Caribbean.
• The incorporation of Mariner's xVu tools with Cisco's VQE technology is the result of a year long Mariner/Cisco collaboration, during which a thoroughly integrated version of xVu was developed. The result is the ability for a service provider to gain measured insight and troubleshooting control into network and home-related issues as well as speed response to service-quality issues.
