Darla M. Boyer, MIT Receives Professional Networking Community's Highest Honor
Darla M. Boyer, MIT Named "Professional of the Year" in academia by Cambridge Who's Who

HILLSBORO, MO, January 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Darla M. Boyer, MIT, Assistant Professor of Digital Media Technology at Jefferson College, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Academia. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.

Specialized in digital media technology, Darla M. Boyer, MIT is recognized for over two decades of demonstrated excellence in her field. Ms. Boyer began her career as a registered music therapist. She also taught private guitar and piano lessons for 10 years. In 2003, she founded the Digital Media Technology Program at Jefferson College and has been teaching at the Area Technical School since 2004.

In her position with Jefferson College, Ms. Boyer teaches students the fundamentals of graphic arts, photography, video development and production, and web design. She also provides instruction with regard to flash animation, 3D graphics and sound engineering. Ms. Boyer is proficient with a number of advanced software applications including the Adobe Master Collection, which include Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, Premiere, After Effects and Fireworks. In recognition of professional excellence, she was inducted into Who's Who Among America's Teachers and was named "VIP of the Year" by Cambridge Publishing for the 2008/2009 year.

Ms. Boyer holds a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from Capella University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy and Psychology from Maryville University. She earned A+ Certification in Hardware and Software Configuration and is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist. A Certified Teacher, she holds Internet and Computing Core Certification. Ms. Boyer's professional affiliations include the Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education, the Missouri Community College Association, the Missouri Business Education Association, Future Business Leaders of America, the National Business Education Association, the National Education Association, and the National Association of Pastoral Musicians.
